Every child should enjoy reading.
I am here to help struggling readers and their families by providing tools and proper instruction to make them informed and successful.
- Does your child dislike reading?
- Are homework wars part of the nightly ritual at your house?
- Does your child have anxiety about school?
- Do you hear the same responses from the school when you ask why your child struggles with reading?
- Are you frustrated and need someone to help?
Sheryl Boyd, Dyslexia Specialist & Tutor
Your child may be experiencing dyslexia, a brain-based learning difference that impacts language activities such as reading, writing, and spelling. Dyslexia occurs on a continuum so that it may be mild, moderate, severe, or profound. Dyslexia is a life-long condition, but students can learn to read and do well in language activities. The preferred curriculum is an Orton-Gillingham-influenced approach. I am certified in the Barton Reading and Spelling System, an Orton-Gillingham-influenced approach, and I would love to help you and your child.
Consulting
I can help interpret reports from the school or a psychologist. I am happy to listen and give advice for the best way to proceed in your given situation.
Screening
If a child shows a number of dyslexia warning signs, a screening may be a good choice for the next step.
Tutoring
I offer in-person and online tutoring sessions two or more times per week. Each session is 50 minutes in length.
